The Year of the Mammoth in Hearthstone has begun and Patch 7.1 brought some nerfs. We have the details for you.
Hearthstone enters the second year of the standard format, leaving the Year of the Kraken to usher in the Year of the Mammoth.
Two cards have been adjusted or “nerfed” as they have proven to be too powerful in the game. The widely hated Smalltime Buccaneer, a staple in every Warrior deck, now has only 1 health (previously 2). The Shaman’s Spirit Claws were weakened by increasing the mana cost from 1 to 2.
The ranked mode has now become a bit more attractive, as there are certain thresholds that you can’t drop below when reaching a rank. Once you achieve a certain rank, you can no longer drop down even after multiple defeats. This should encourage players to try new decks more often and spend more time in ranked matches. The thresholds are as follows:
- Rank 20
- Rank 15
- Rank 10
- Rank 5
- Legend
Arena Mode – More Variables, More Variety
The Arena mode has also been significantly revamped with the patch. From now on, only standard format cards will appear in the Arena, as the “wild” cards will disappear. At the same time, rare, epic, and legendary cards will be offered much more frequently, as well as spells. The “boring” cards from the basic and classic sets should appear significantly less often, as they provide interesting gameplay only in a few cases.
Finally, the Arena will now also feature golden cards if you own a golden version of the selected card in your collection.
Pre-order Journey to Un’Goro and Grab Card Backs
If you want, you can now also pre-order 50 card packs of the “Journey to Un’Goro” expansion for €44.99 in the shop and secure a special card back. The card back will, as usual, only be available during the pre-order phase.
Everyone else should start saving gold diligently.
If you want, you can also buy card packs with gold from World of Warcraft!
