20 million players have played Hearthstone for almost 238,000 years since its release. Blizzard is now announcing these and other amusing statistics.
These are impressive numbers that Hearthstone, Blizzard’s online card game, can present. 20 million players have now found their way to the tavern of Hearthstone and have spent a total of 237,556 years there, which is 2 billion hours. With 20 million players, that means each person has spent an average of 100 hours with Hearthstone.
The three most popular hero powers are the Shaman’s Totem Call, the Fireball, the so-called “Ping” of the Sorceress, and the Warrior’s Upgrade. These are certainly abilities for which you would gladly spend your mana in any situation.
In Ranked, one player made it to Legend with 74 wins, which is the record for the fewest matches to reach the Legend rank. And the longest win streak was 24 games. That doesn’t seem that long. It also shows how luck-dependent the game still is at a roughly equal skill level.
Another interesting statistic: Over 3 million players have managed to win the “Arena” and achieve 12 wins before their third loss came. This secures the top reward. Among the most frequently played neutral cards in Hearthstone were the solid 4-mana Yeti and the sneaky Harvest Golem. They simply provide wonderful “value”.
Furthermore, 3 million bananas have been consumed in Hearthstone – thanks to King Mukla – 15 million minions have been transformed into a sheep, and 69 million dogs have been summoned by hunters.
One figure that Blizzard does not reveal is provided by the market research institute Superdata: 114 million US dollars. That is how much Hearthstone is said to have made this year.
This makes Hearthstone the only newcomer to make it onto the list of the 10 most profitable MMOs this year. As for how it will be when smartphones are added, it is hard to predict at this point.
