The latest Hearthstone expansion is live! We reveal what’s included in “Split in Alterac Valley”.
The Hearthstone fans didn’t have to wait long after the announcement; it was already here. The latest expansion of Blizzard’s digital collectible card game is live and brings a lot of fresh wind. The expansion concludes the current year and leads the prevailing conflict of “Alliance versus Horde” to a preliminary finale.
We will reveal what content you can look forward to in “Split in Alterac Valley”.
What’s included in the new addon? As usual, the expansion “Split in Alterac Valley” features a whopping 135 new cards, which should inspire many fresh deck ideas and strategies. Especially the new hero cards are really powerful and could cause the quests to take a bit of a backseat – they had recently dominated Hearthstone.

The new keyword is “Honorable Kill”: The expansion also brings a new keyword after a while, which can be found on many cards, namely “Honorable Kill”. This is an effect that is triggered whenever an enemy minion is defeated by the card with the keyword by exact damage.
If an enemy minion has 3 health, you must deal exactly 3 damage to achieve an “Honorable Kill”. Depending on the card, this brings different bonuses. It can be a boost to stats (like +1/+1) or allow you to draw a card. Each card with “Honorable Kill” has its own effect.
What else is there to do? During the expansion, there will be a legendary quest line – in addition to the reward track. Players can snag a series of additional golden cards if they collect enough honor. How exactly this works has been explained in our article on the honor system in Hearthstone.
As usual, there will be another “miniset” a few weeks after the release, which will likely contain 35 new cards again. Until then, you have time to earn enough gold from the new reward track.
