The latest expansion of Hearthstone has been announced: Journey to the Sunken City. MeinMMO has all the info for you.
In Hearthstone, the new year has begun, and with it comes the release of the first expansion of 2022. The new card expansion is called “Journey to the Sunken City”.
The theme of the expansion is the sunken city of Zin Azshari, located in the heart of Nazjatar. Players of World of Warcraft may still have vivid memories of this place. Once, it was the main seat of the great Night Elf empire, but later it was pulled into the depths of the sea, while the Night Elves were transformed into Naga. These ancient ruins will now be explored – along with all the strange creatures that can be found there.
Especially interesting this time is the trailer for the expansion. It is a bit “different” this time and contains remarkably little text. However, it features an interesting techno-dubstep mix with elven singing, accompanied by wild colors reminiscent of a disco. Who would have thought that something like this was needed in the Warcraft universe?
2 new keywords – more than usual
Also exciting is that Hearthstone is introducing 2 new keywords with the expansion, which should provide even more variety. These are:
- Dredge: You look at the 3 bottom cards of your deck and place one of them on top. The other two cards go back to the bottom of the deck.
- Colossal: Some minions have “Colossal” and a certain value, such as “Colossal +1” or “Colossal +4”. These cards are creatures that are so huge that they consist of several parts. A minion with “Colossal +3” would summon 3 additional minions, each regarded as a body part of that creature.
Naga become their own type: In line with the underwater setting of Nazjatar, Naga will become more important. They will now be their own minion type, like Mechs, Dragons, or Elementals. This means that Naga will receive new synergy effects, creating more tactical depth in the game. Some Naga with synergy effects will already be visible in this expansion.
Free card for logging in: Anyone who logs into Hearthstone right now can even snag the first card from “Journey to the Sunken City”. Because everyone who starts the game automatically receives the legendary minion “Blade Master Okani” with a cool battle cry. You secretly choose “Minion” or “Spell”. If Okani is still alive when the opponent plays a card of the chosen type next, that card will be countered immediately.
When will the expansion be released? The release of “Journey to the Sunken City” is set for April 12. So, you have about 3 weeks to decide if you want to pre-order. During this time, all cards from the expansion will be gradually revealed, as usual.
