A new patch for Hearthstone is supposed to fix things. Four popular cards will be significantly nerfed and could soon lose their relevance.
Update: The changes mentioned below have been activated with a patch since last night (06.02.2018) and are now live!
Original report:
The meta of Hearthstone is once again in a rut. The last addon was released almost 2 months ago and new, innovative decks are appearing only rarely. Instead, there are cries from the player community for change and adjustments. It has taken some time, but now the prayers have been heard. Just in time for the start of February, Blizzard wants to release a new patch that will weaken four cards from Hearthstone.
These changes will come with the next update:
The mana cost of Knochenross will be increased from 7 to 8. This means the minion can only be played later and is a bit less mana-efficient. It remains strong nonetheless.
The Katakombenkriecher is hit hard. It was present in almost every deck and that is set to change. The attack value will be reduced from 5 to 2. Most players expect the crawler will now disappear into obscurity.
Another radical nerf affects Patches, known in the German version as Käptn’n Glubschauge. This 1/1 pirate with Charge appears whenever the player plays another pirate. The Charge is now coldly removed. Thus, it can only be played in the following round.
The last nerf might become a moderate crisis for all priests. Raza the Unchained is also being changed. Instead of lowering the cost of the priest’s hero power to 0 for the rest of the match, it will now be set to 1.
Blizzard deemed these changes necessary to enable more exciting matches.
However, there are also some criticisms of the nerfs. The well-known player Brian Kibler believes that the nerfs will make the Warlock now dominant. Because the nerfed cards were some of the few counters. He expects that Warlock will now take a dominating role.
What do you think of these changes? Are they good for the development of Hearthstone? Or should they have left the cards alone?
There are also major changes to the ladder – soon the eternal grind will come to an end!
