For Hearthstone, many nerfs to popular cards are coming. We reveal to you which cards the developers have targeted.
Some nerfs are coming to Hearthstone soon, to slightly tone down the current top-tier decks. Developer Dean Ayala has revealed which 10 cards the Hearthstone team has targeted. However, the changes will likely not be implemented for a few weeks.
Which cards are to be nerfed? Dean Ayala revealed on Twitter and Reddit which cards are currently under the developers’ scrutiny. However, he emphasized that not all these cards will be changed, but at least some from this list will be adjusted:
- Sunkeeper Tarim
- Call to Arms
- Baku the Moonslinger – In connection with the Paladin hero power
- Spiteful Summoner
- Possessed Lackey
- Bloodreaver Gul’dan
- Dark Pact
- Kobold Librarian
- Quest Rogue
- Doomguard
Witchwood brought few meta changes
Why is there a nerf? The current expansion “The Witchwood” had very little impact on the current top decks. Only about 10% of all played cards come from the latest expansion and the trend is decreasing. In comparison: In the first week of “Journey to Un’Goro”, about 25% of all cards from the latest expansion were played.
When will the nerfs happen? At the earliest after the last matches of the current HCT Playoffs. The developers do not want to adjust balance during a major tournament. The tournament ends on May 19, meaning adjustments can be expected in early June.
Which decks will be affected by these changes? Especially the feared “Cube-Lock”, which makes quick work of many players through various mechanics such as the Possessed Lackey or Doomguard, is likely to be somewhat weaker after the adjustments. Also, Paladins, who currently “flood the board” and then buff all minions, will likely have to face some cuts.
Are you looking forward to the nerfs? Or are you a fan of these decks?
