Blizzard’s card game HearthStone is extremely popular – especially on mobile devices. For the first time, it has overtaken the PC version.
A quick round in between
HearthStone has quickly become a major success that even Blizzard could not have dreamt of. The revenue from the card game in the mobile sector was obviously higher for the first time than on PC. SuperData Research revealed how much money players have spent to unlock various adventures, card packs, and arena access. According to the statistics, it seems that in March 2015, mobile Hearthstone surpassed the PC version.

While profits in the mobile sector rose, they fell sharply in the PC sector – by almost the same amount. This decline might be due to many players switching from PC to a tablet or smartphone. But it could also be that no new expansion has been released on PC for some time in March. The PC players who had been involved for months could no longer spend money on anything new. The add-on Blackrock Mountain was not released until April.
The release of new content has always led to new record highs, as can be seen clearly in the graph. Once again, the impression seems to solidify: The market of the future lies in the mobile sector.
