When thinking about Hearthstone, one considers offering ready-made decks for direct purchase. Beginners in particular would benefit from this.
The more time passes, the harder it becomes for newcomers and returnees to access card games like Hearthstone. To ensure that all newcomers do not have to buy numerous card packs to acquire the various expansions, there is the Standard mode. Here, only the cards from the current and previous year are valid, significantly reducing the pool of cards.
As additional help, there are several deck formulas for each class that allow players to quickly assemble a solid deck. Usually, there is a “Classic” variant and some advanced decks that require significantly more Arcane Dust and rare cards to craft.
In an interview, IGN spoke with Mike Donais from the Hearthstone team about further ways to make it easier for newcomers to access the game. The IGN interviewer suggested an idea from the community that specific cards should be made available for purchase – not each card individually, but only cards for specific decks, so newcomers can start with a “solid” starter deck.
“IGN: I think people just need a way to get specific cards. It doesn’t have to be a Tier 1 deck, but just a quick way to get into the game because the ladder is so competitive.”
Mika Donais: Yes. What would you think of a button that says something like “Buy this deck”? Should we add something like that to the game?”
The entire conversation is regarded by Blizzard as “valuable feedback” – while this is by no means a promise that such an idea will be implemented, they are at least considering it.

Cortyn says: I am fundamentally against the possibility of being able to purchase individual cards specifically. However, if it is just about acquiring one or two “solid” decks for classes directly, then I consider this a good solution. I have many friends who struggle to get into Hearthstone because they feel they need to buy numerous card packs first. The opportunity to specifically purchase a starter deck would circumvent this problem. But what do you think of the idea?
