No new Hearthstone expansion without some random elements. The new hero for Hunters even makes Mages pale.
In a few days it will be here, the new Hearthstone expansion “Rastakhan’s Rambazamba” will flood Blizzard’s card game with 135 new cards. Piece by piece, the developers published new cards for Hearthstone through streamers and community sites. Here are a few highlights from the latest reveals.
The Tot’ngräbah is a neutral legendary minion costing 8 mana with stats of 8/5. His Battlecry makes him particularly powerful, as he gains the Deathrattle effects from three friendly minions that have died in this game. This could lead to many different, devastating combinations.
For Rogues, the new minion Gurubashi Whipmaster awaits, boasting 5/7 stats for 7 mana. His Battlecry allows you to discover a copy of a minion with a Battlecry, which only has stats of 1/1 but costs just 1 mana to play. If you’re lucky and draw particularly powerful Battlecries, you can play them cheaply.
Druids have a new spell, the Mark of the Loa. For 4 mana, they are faced with a choice: either grant a minion +2/+4 and Taunt, or summon 2 Raptors with stats of 3/2. Depending on the situation, the spell can be used to either create a board or better protect existing minions.
A neutral minion is the Mosh’Ogg Chieftain for 5 mana, with solid stats of 6/5. Like almost all Ogres in the game, he has a random mechanic: Enemies attacking this minion have a 50% chance to attack another character. This will surely drive some enemies crazy.
Rulers could be quite dangerous: the Linebreaker. This neutral minion has powerful stats of 5/10 for 7 mana and has a devastating Overkill mechanic. Each time it kills another minion, the Linebreaker’s attack doubles. From 5 it becomes 10, from 10 to 20, from 20 to 40, and anything left must have tanked a lot of armor.
Shamans get the new minion Swamp Shuffler. This Elemental, costing 3 mana with stats of 3/3 and offering a powerful Battlecry, is likely to appear in many decks soon. It returns a friendly minion to your hand and gives it +2/+2. This allows powerful Battlecry minions to be replayed or a nearly dead Taunt minion to be brought back with renewed strength.
Also, Mages await a new spell, specifically a secret, as usual for 3 mana. The secret Life-Size Replica ensures that the Mage summons a copy of a minion that is attacked by the opponent.
For those who find Hearthstone simply too fast, they can soon slow down the pace. The legendary minion Master Zihi costs 6 mana and has stats of 5/5. As a Battlecry, he sets both sides’ mana crystals to 5 (or raises them if played particularly early).
Hunters receive nothing less than the legendary troll Zul’jin as a new hero card. It costs 10 mana to play and grants the hero 5 armor points. As a Battlecry, all spells that the Hunter has played in this match are reactivated – the target selection is random. The Hunter’s hero ability changes as well. He can now deal 2 damage for 2 mana to a target of his choice.
What do you think of these new Hearthstone cards? Are there any cool additions? Or do you mind the amount of RNG?
