Uldaman – a place of Troggs and treasures
Since last night, Uldaman has opened, and most players have already shown the bosses who is boss on normal difficulty. However, the heroic variants are a bit tougher in most cases and require planning and a good deck. We will show you how to retrieve the staff head from Uldaman also in heroic mode.
Chieftain Scarvash – Troggs hate everything
The first boss, Chieftain Scarvash, is a gigantic Trogg and hates spells. Minions do too. Actually, everything. For this reason, his hero power switches every round, making spells cost 2 more mana and then minions – switching constantly. As befits a chieftain, Scarvash throws all kinds of Troggs at you that you must defeat.
In heroic mode, things get even a bit tougher. Here minions and spells alternate costing 11 mana – making them impossible to play. It is therefore important to maintain a good balance between spells and minions in the deck. As if that weren’t bad enough, Scarvash also starts with 2 Troggs on his side that become stronger through spells.
For both modes, this Shaman deck is particularly suitable. It has a balanced mix of spells and minions and can hinder opponents early on with tanks like Annoy-O-Tron. You should attack Scarvash directly as often as possible in order to take him down with 4 or 5 minions, along with a hefty Bloodlust combo, as early as possible. Unfortunately, this fight heavily relies on RNG – bad luck with draws can quickly mean the end.
Thrilling Minecart Ride – Indiana Jones Brann Bronzebeard sends his regards
As in last week’s “Escape from the Temple”, the “Thrilling Minecart Ride” is another type of boss fight. Again, you need to survive a total of 10 rounds to defeat the “boss”. The fight itself is rather unspectacular, but planning and foresight are still required. The game sends you 2-3 random Troggs each round that will attack your life points in the following turn. Brann Bronzebeard provides you with his own deck that contains certain minions and spells. All cards you can play cost just 1 mana – but your maximum mana never goes above 2, which means you only have 2 actions per round.
Bring your mechanical parrots onto the field early, as they can effectively trade and prepare the field so that you can clear the entire board at once with “Kaboom!”. Save “Full Speed Ahead!” for the last rounds – use it only when the field is completely clear otherwise.
In heroic mode, nothing changes in this encounter at all. Unless you have to fight against some 6/6 Troggs on the first turn (and have no dynamite on hand), you should not have any difficulties at all.
Archaedas – The Potter Master
Finally, the Titan construct Archaedas awaits the players and separates them from the headpiece of the staff. The hero power summons a 0/2 statue for both players every round, which is not much of a problem at first. As expected, however, Archaedas is capable of buffing his minions, while your statues only block the board. The goal is to make your own statues useful and prevent Archaedas from destroying many statues simultaneously with a spell (which causes damage equal to the statues).
In heroic mode, the health points of the construct summoned by Archaedas increase to 5, while your own remain at 2. As if that wasn’t annoying enough, almost all of Archaedas’s cards have gotten better, allowing him to give all his minions +3/+3 and taunt. At the same time, one card can smash all statues (including yours!) and deal 3 damage for each destroyed construct. And yes, he can also directly deploy this against your health points. The difficulty, therefore, lies in making your own statues functional while defeating Archaedas’s statues quickly.
Particularly effective in this is this Shaman deck, which (like with Scarvash) tries to defeat the enemy with a Bloodlust combo. Minions like the Flame Tongue Totem and the Sunstrider’s Guardian make your constructs useful and ensure that Archaedas must attack them.
Once you have completed all challenges (normal mode is enough), numerous new cards await, including Brann Bronzebeard himself, who will surely inspire many new decks.
