32 Cards from the next Hearthstone expansion “Legacy of the Dragons” have already been revealed. We will show you all the new cards and explain the special twist of the expansion: the Hero Card Galakrond.
At BlizzCon 2019, the next Hearthstone expansion was announced. In “Legacy of the Dragons”, it is about the revival of the proto-drake Galakrond, which is available for five classes.
Players can choose whether they want to belong to the “Good” (the Explorer’s League) or fight on the side of the “Evil” (Ü.B.E.L.).
The first 32 cards for “Legacy of the Dragons” have been revealed during BlizzCon.
Galakrond as a dark Hero Card: One of the highlights is the various Galakrond cards that multiple classes can get. Each class has its own version of the dragon. Galakrond is a Hero Card, which replaces the played hero and grants a new hero ability.
However, for Galakrond to fully unleash its potential, it must first be “empowered” by other cards. “Empower” (Invoke) is the new keyword of the expansion.
The following Galakrond cards are the basic version of the dragon:
So far, the rule seems to be that Galakrond improves itself two times and must be empowered two times each:
- The first time, its printed effect is doubled. (After two empowers)
- The second time, this effect is doubled again and you additionally equip a 5/2 weapon. (after a total of four empowers)
Whether this is really the case for all Galakrond versions remains to be seen.
As an example:
- Galakrond (Base) for Rogues: Draws 1 card. It costs 0 mana.
- Galakrond (1x upgraded) for Rogues: Draws 2 cards. They cost 0 mana.
- Galakrond (2x upgraded) for Rogues: Draws 4 cards. They cost 0 mana. Equips a 5/2 weapon.
The “Empower” cards: A new keyword is “Empower”. With this, you can upgrade Galakrond in this expansion. At the same time, “Empower” has a special effect depending on the class. Rogues, for example, receive a minion to their hand each time they empower Galakrond.
New dragons for all classes: An expansion that is about dragons naturally needs new dragon cards. Some of these have already been introduced.
Breathe spells for each class: A new theme for each class is the “breath” abilities, similar to the plagues in the last expansion. Each class will receive a special dragon breath, which is a particularly interesting spell.
Other cards: In addition, there will be a few cards that also contain new features. For example, “Side Quests”. These cards do not start in the player’s hand, but can still be completed late and have an immediate effect.
