Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone has been on a winning streak since its release in 2014. This was already evident as early as September 2012, as revealed in a newly surfaced email.
An old email has now been dug up. In it, Starcraft 2 lead designer Dustin Browder writes to Hearthstone designer Eric Dodds:
“There are currently 4 computers around me being played. Standing around one of them are four other guys who are just watching the match.
I need to issue some rules against playing during work hours.
Your team and you will win.”

It was only half a year later at PAX East that Hearthstone was presented to the public. And yes. Eric Dodds and his team won, as we now know. However, it wasn’t always clear. In between, some at Blizzard expressed doubts about why they suddenly made “such a game”.
