South Park will be a part of Hearthstone. The famous “Warcraft” episode will be immortalized with two special cards.
Hearthstone is largely based on the Warcraft universe and continually draws from it when it comes to the release of new cards. In the upcoming card set “United in Stormwind”, there will again be plenty taken from WoW, even an old joke from South Park is included. Players will soon be able to get the legendary “Sword of a Thousand Truths” – but only after they kill a lot of wild boars.
Where does the sword come from? It’s a collaboration between World of Warcraft and South Park. In the episode “Make Love, not Warcraft”, the kids of South Park play a lot of WoW and encounter a person “who has no life” and who keeps killing them. To defeat the hardcore player, they spend all day killing wild boars in the Elwynn Forest and later receive the “Sword of a Thousand Truths”, which can drain the mana of the evil player in the episode.
This is how it is implemented in Hearthstone: Exactly the two elements from the series episode are now combined in Hearthstone with the new card. The beast “Elwynn Boar”, a minion with 1/1 for 1 mana, must die at least 7 times in the game for the player to equip the Sword of a Thousand Truths.
The sword is exactly as “OP” as it was back in South Park. It has a devastating 15 attack power and after an attack, it destroys all of the opponent’s mana crystals – forcing them to start again at 1 mana.
However, that probably won’t annoy the opponent for long, as two attacks with the sword are enough to take down a normal hero’s 30 health points.
Isn’t that “Game Breaking”? Probably not. Since a card can only be present 2 times in a deck, it’s quite tricky to let a total of 7 wild boars die. You have to plan a large part of the deck around this task and likely make some sacrifices in offense and defense. Only if everything works perfectly should you get to see the sword.
Current assessments suggest that it’s more of a meme card rather than a significant game changer. But maybe clever players will develop a deck that allows the sword to be seen more frequently…
What do you think about such a card? A cool idea? Or just way too ridiculous?
