The latest addon for Hearthstone brings powerful Priest cards. But is that enough?
With the upcoming expansion “The Streets of Gadgetzan”, Blizzard is adjusting the balance of various classes. Especially fans of the Priest are eagerly watching the card reveals. So far, it looks pretty good – the Priest could become a real threat again!
Those who currently play a lot of Hearthstone mainly encounter Shamans and Hunters. Rarely does one see a Priest, and when they do, it has usually settled on a Dragon deck. Blizzard seems to want to further strengthen this deck, as the Priest is getting new Dragon cards.
Hearthstone Dragon Priest – The new cards for the trend deck
The Drakonid Operative is quite awesome with 5/6 for 5 mana and fills a significant gap, but becomes even better through its battle cry: If you have another Dragon in hand, you discover a card from your opponent’s deck. This not only gives you an additional card, but also insight into 3 cards of the opponent, allowing you to gauge what the enemy is playing – and which cards they do not have in hand.
The spell Dragonfire Potion is also designed for Dragons. It deals 5 damage to all minions, except Dragons. Therefore, one should have many of those in the deck as well.
But the other Priest cards hit hard as well. With the Pint-Size Potion for 1 mana, the attack power of all enemy minions is reduced by 3 for this turn. This allows many opponents to be brought within range of “Shadow Word: Pain” or can easily be killed with your own minions without suffering losses.
A renaissance for Anduin and Tyrande? New synergy cards
As an alternative, you can also throw a Potion of Madness for 1 mana, with which you gain control of an enemy minion with 2 attack or less until the end of the turn.
Lastly, the Kabal Talonpriest is on the list, which is already relatively solid with values of 3|4, but as a battle cry gives another friendly minion an additional 3 health – effectively making it a 3/7 for 3 mana.
As the perfect target for this buff, the Mana Geode with 2/3 for 2 mana is quite suitable. It creates a 2/2 Crystal whenever it is healed.
All the synergies between the new Priest cards are so strong that we will probably see all of them in many decks simultaneously.
What do you think of the new cards? Can they lead Tyrande and Anduin out of the crisis or is it still not enough?
