The Gadgetzan expansion for Hearthstone features the “gangs” that promise interesting mechanics.
The big, but not entirely unexpected, announcement of the new Hearthstone expansion “The Streets of Gadgetzan” has sparked excitement among most fans. As often, the trailer is amusing and the various artworks also look outstanding. But can the game keep up with the card design? After the rather “mixed” Karazhan, fans remain skeptical. However, Blizzard has opened up numerous new possibilities with the new “3-class mechanic” for many cards. We reveal to you how it works.
A large part of the cards can be associated with one of three rival gangs in the Streets of Gadgetzan from the story. Each gang is represented by 3 different classes, meaning: Only heroes of the corresponding class can include the cards in their decks.
Grimy Goons
Only Hunters, Warriors, and Paladins have access to the Grimy Goons cards. Their cards focus more on brute force (so high values) than any other mechanic. Thus, the brutal nature of ogres and other “bruisers” is reflected here. Because what says “This is my territory” more clearly than the massive fists of a two-headed ogre?
Kabal
Priests, Warlocks, and Mages gain access to the Kabal cards. These usually have an effect that experiments with either magic, alchemy, or a mix of both. The legendary card Kazakus even allows players to create their own spell!
Jade Lotus
For Rogues, Shamans, and Druids, there is the Jade Lotus, a gang of assassins that primarily operate from stealth and then quickly disappear back into the shadows. Here, you will find many effects with Stealth but also additional coins.
The special twist with each gang: the three classes of each gang can gain access to the cards of their “colleagues.” For example, Grimy Goons cards can ensure that you discover a Hunter, Paladin, or Warrior card, even though you are “only” a Hunter. This creates exciting new combinations and plenty of surprises in the otherwise somewhat stale Hearthstone.
