Hearthstone gives players what they have been asking for a while: You can now buy entire decks directly in the shop, for real money.
For a few days now, a new patch has gone live in Hearthstone and players can now take advantage of a new offer. Blizzard is now allowing players something that has been requested for years: the direct purchase of decks, with which they can start immediately.
What kind of decks are these? Anyone who has been a bit active in the ranked Standard mode in the last few weeks will probably be familiar with all the sold decks. These are exclusively the currently most popular meta decks of all classes. Therefore, Blizzard can also promote that the decks were created through the “evaluation of hundreds of thousands of game sessions” – after all, players have used these decks very often in recent weeks.
In short, these are:
- Demon Hunter: A deck based on zeal and death rattles that quickly takes down the enemy.
- Druid: A deck that quickly increases your mana reserve and then floods the board with massively reinforced minions.
- Hunter: A clear rush deck that quickly defeats the enemy with spells and the notorious trampling rhinoceros.
- Mage: A spell damage deck that overwhelms the enemy with discounted spells.
- Paladin: A secret-based deck that reinforces minions.
- Priest: A spell deck that continually generates more spells and can endlessly reinforce minions.
- Rogue: A combo-heavy deck that also makes use of secrets.
- Shaman: A deck that boosts the hero’s attack damage and delivers the final blow with strong spells.
- Warlock: A deck that destroys the opponent’s cards, leading to their exhaustion.
- Warrior: A zeal-based deck that also massively reinforces minions in hand.

€20 for really strong decks in Hearthstone
Is it worth buying the decks? That probably depends entirely on the individual player. Those who have only bought a few card packs so far may find that a solid deck for €20 is a good deal. However, those who already own many cards from the decks can simply recreate the corresponding decks themselves and craft the missing cards for Arcane Dust by disenchanting old cards.
Since each deck contains between 2 and 4 legendary cards, as well as between 2 and 10 epic cards, the raw value of a deck is quite reasonable.
However, every player should first inform themselves about the playstyle of the deck and perhaps watch streamers handle the deck. Because investing €20 in a deck whose playstyle ultimately isn’t fun would be a bad deal.
Note that each account can only purchase a single deck per expansion.
Who is this offer aimed at? The purchase of one of these decks is likely to be particularly worthwhile for those who do not like to “waste” time on deck building. Those who are willing to spend a little money in order to simply start right away with a reasonably strong deck will find this offer appealing. However, those who prefer to build their own decks and enjoy actively collecting cards that they earn piece by piece will probably not be interested.
What do you think about Blizzard now selling complete decks? Is it a good idea that encourages you to buy? Or would you never accept such an offer?
