The new expansion for Hearthstone has been revealed. And the Hearthstone add-on offers a ton of new features – including 48 new bosses!
The BlizzCon 2017 is full of new revelations for all Blizzard games. Hearthstone has also revealed a huge surprise: the new expansion Kobolds and Catacombs.
Kobolds and Candles is a bit “tamer” in theme and explores the deep tunnels beneath Azeroth, where the kobolds reside. However, they have not only found stone and ore in the depths, but also ancient pirate treasures, troll resting places, and of course a lot of candles.
A fresh cinematic is also available for Kobolds and Catacombs or in German “Kobolde und Katakomben”:
Solo dungeons offer nearly endless variety
What makes Kobolds and Catacombs special is the new dungeon for solo players. The mode is completely free and is reminiscent of dungeon runs from old games (such as Dungeons&Dragons). From a set of 48 different bosses, 8 opponents are randomly selected with increasing difficulty to be defeated.
Players can choose a hero. However, the starting deck only consists of 10 cards, and the hero has a measly 15 health points. After each won fight, you “level up” and receive a reward – these can be new cards for the deck, additional health points, or even powerful passive buffs.
With 48 bosses from which 8 are selected, 40 different treasures, and 9 heroes, the number of possible combinations is huge. No dungeon run is supposed to feel like the previous one.
However, you only have one attempt each time. If you lose with your deck, then the deck and progress are gone – you have to start again with a new deck at boss 1.
New cards from Kobolds and Catacombs
Some new cards have also been revealed. We have them here in a small gallery for you:
Importantly, each hero will receive a new legendary weapon with powerful properties. Not all weapons have been revealed yet, but “spell classes” will mainly have passive effects on their weapons.
An exact release date has not yet been mentioned. The expansion is only set to be released “sometime in December”.
New cards will already be introduced starting November 20th.
