At BlizzCon 2017, many new things for Hearthstone were announced. The focus was on the reveal of the new expansion “Kobolds and Catacombs.” But there are also changes outside of the new add-on that will soon hit the Arena: exclusive Arena cards!
The Arena has always posed some balance problems for the Hearthstone developers. In the past, Blizzard had to repeatedly adjust and ban certain cards from the Arena, as they became too powerful.
Exclusive Cards Only for the Arena
Now the developers want to take the opposite step and implement cards that will be available only in the Arena. During BlizzCon, attendees were able to vote on which cards would be implemented into the Arena – one card per class.
Warlocks often face the problem that they rarely draw demons in the Arena, which eliminates many synergies. With Bottled Madness, all cards in hand are transformed into random demons!
Shamans weren’t good enough at clearing the board yet? That will change. For 0 mana comes Crackling Doom, which deals 12 damage to all minions on the battlefield. However, it comes at the cruel price of overload: 10. Thus, the next turn will be skipped.
For Paladins, there is the secret Hand of Salvation. This resurrects the second minion of the Paladin that died within a turn.
Please note that the balance of the cards is not final yet. The developers want to review them for balance, but the basic design of the mechanics should not change.
There is not yet a specific date for the release of the Arena cards. When it is time, we will report on it.
