Hearthstone: Dark Wanderer – How to Access the Secret Cow Level

To celebrate Diablo’s birthday, there is a rather strange card chaos in Hearthstone: the Dark Wanderer wants to prove himself. A card back is available for you.

Currently, small events are taking place in all Blizzard games to celebrate Diablo’s birthday – the franchise is now a proud 20 years old. In Hearthstone, colleagues are honored with the Hellfire through a special card chaos.

This time, players are not competing against each other but must face the “Dark Wanderer” and build a special deck for it – with (almost) all cards they have in their collection. Only cards that can destroy or steal secrets cannot be used (like Hunter’s flare).

Defeat the Dark Wanderer in Hearthstone

The battle against the “Dark Wanderer” takes place in two phases – with the second phase being a hidden bonus that doesn’t need to be achieved.

In Phase 1, the dark wanderer starts with three active secrets from a pool of ten secrets total. As a hero power, he has “Summons a random Imp” and his other cards are mainly Warlock cards – buffs for demons, shadow bolts, and the like.

It is possible to defeat the Dark Wanderer in this phase. Then the battle ends and you receive the reward of the card chaos: a cool Diablo card back with an interesting endless animation. A card pack like usual is not available this time.

How to enter the secret cow level of Hearthstone

These are the different 10 secrets of the dark wanderer

If the player manages to trigger all three secrets, Phase 2 begins. The type of secrets is different and random each round. There are 3 out of 10 possibilities.

For the first 7 possible secrets, it is enough to play a minion with

• Battlecry
• Stealth
• Charge
• Deathrattle
• Spell damage
• Taunt
• or a legendary minion.

The other 3 possibilities are a bit more complicated:

• Once the player must drop to 0 health
• Both the player and the Dark Wanderer must be below 15 health points
• or the player must have more than 9 cards in hand.

If all 3 secrets are triggered, then the following happens:

A portal is summoned that at the end of the turn pulls the player and the wanderer into a secret level. And what could that be in Diablo? Right, the secret cow level.

The wanderer is now the cow king and plays many fighting cows that return to the deck upon death. It is mainly about killing as many cows as possible – however, there is no special reward for that. You can only boast a little in front of your friends or on Reddit.

Diablo’s birthday is also celebrated in World of Warcraft. There is now also a secret cow level.
