In World of Warcraft, the Midsummer Festival has already ended, but in Hearthstone it starts today (July 5, 2017). And who could be a better Master of the Midsummer Festival than Ragnaros the Firelord? On Blizzard’s official Hearthstone page, the Elemental Lord proclaimed in classic caps lock style that “IT’S NEVER TOO EARLY FOR THE MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL.”
In plain language, this means that there will be a special card chaos featuring Ragnaros in the spotlight – but a “smaller Ragnaros” is also expected to appear.
Quests give double gold rewards
The real highlight of the event is likely to be that during this time, players will earn double the amount of gold for completing quests!
The event is expected to coincide with the start of the card chaos. This means in Europe that the event starts today, July 5, 2017, at 10:00 PM. The ending of the event is not known, but it is speculated to be on Monday – as a card chaos usually ends then.
As the next, yet unannounced expansion of Hearthstone will be released in August, players should think carefully about whether to spend their earned gold or start saving. Those who have several thousand gold saved up by the time of the next expansion’s release can either buy card packs right away or dive into the arena for a long time to earn those packs.
Or to quote Ragnaros: THE CELEBRATION WILL PURIFY YOU.
Mein-MMO says: The late announcement of the event is already causing trouble, as players who completed their quests in the last few days are understandably upset. They will likely miss out on the double rewards unless Blizzard implements a mechanism to counter this – such as spontaneously granting 3 new quests at the start of the event. It remains to be seen whether Blizzard has truly done itself a favor with this event.
