It was only a matter of time before Blizzard took on the bot problem on a large scale in the virtual collectible card game “Hearthstone“. After banning thousands of botters for the rest of the year a few days ago, they are now also targeting those who spread the corresponding cheating programs.
First up, it has now caught “Crawlerbots”, one of the world’s largest providers. Those who still want to visit the site read the note that they decided to shut down the service after a conversation with Blizzard. However, those who read between the lines can guess that some notices may have been used as a threat, if not even a cease and desist order was responsible for the closure of the site .
But Blizzard also does not tolerate cheating on another level, those who conspired with other colleagues and engaged in “win trading” were even punished harder than the bot users and many players have completely lost their access to Hearthstone.
We can only hope that they continue to crack down on all forms of cheating, especially with the upcoming Hearthstone World Championship at BlizzCon, as this sends a clear message.
