The outcry of the Hearthstone players has helped. Blizzard has promised to change and improve some of the problem skins.
What was the problem? The “Student Jaina” skin was sold for a short time as part of a special bundle. This was when her “Book of Heroes” was released, in which players could experience her backstory.
However, the skin did not meet what the players expected. New skins usually come with their own animations, emotes, and special voice lines. However, Student Jaina had none of this. As some players cynically point out, she was actually just an expensive GIF animation.
What will change now? In a forum post, Blizzard explained that the Jaina skin will be revised. It will, as expected, be provided with its own voice lines. This applies to both:
- the greeting lines
- the emotes
- some special lines when playing special cards
Does this affect other heroes as well? Yes. The latest Uther skin for the Hallow’s End event was also rather disappointing for fans. This skin will also be given unique voice lines.
The same applies to all hero skins that are to be released through the “Book of Heroes” over the course of the coming year. They will all be retrofitted with their own lines to ensure they are of the same quality as other premium skins in Hearthstone.
There is currently no specific timeframe for the change. However, they want to do it as soon as possible, once enough time has passed to record the voiceovers with the corresponding voice actors.
So it was worth the “complaining” this time. Another example that one should never give up. Although there are now criticisms that Blizzard should offer Jaina again in the shop. Because if one had known that she would be getting her own voice lines, then they might have considered the offer…
Do you think Blizzard’s concession here is good and sensible? How do you like the Jaina skin so far?
