In Hearthstone, the newly revealed Paladin card Bolvar becomes stronger even if it hasn’t been played yet.
WoW celebrities were up for a vote in Hearthstone. Either Bolvar or Mal’Ganis should be revealed, depending on the outcome of a Twitter poll. Good triumphed (well… sort of) and Bolvar prevailed: A legendary Paladin minion for 5 mana with strange 1/7 stats was the result.
The special thing: It is enough to hold the card in hand for its effect to activate. It does not need to be played. Each time one of your minions dies, the card gains one point of attack and can reach extremely high values late in the game. Definitely a situational card that doesn’t always pay off. A well-timed Silence spell can ruin the plan. Even after an assassination by the rogue or a reincarnation by the shaman, it stands there with pretty dopey 1/7 stats.
But this is the first time such an effect is in the game. This shows that Blizzard still has plenty of ideas and is hiding some surprises up its sleeve.
