The arena of Hearthstone is being revised again. The community cheers, as the “forced synergies” will be abolished.
With the release patch of “Knights of the Frozen Throne”, a lot changed in Hearthstone. There were not only numerous new cards, but also new game rules in the arena mode.
Since then, when forging a new deck in the arena, the first two offered cards were so-called “synergy cards”. These are cards that harmonize particularly well with similar cards. Examples here are Murlocs of all kinds or the elemental Servant of Kalimos.
Synergy cards caused more frustration than joy
However, this change was received by players at most as “so-so” – a look into the forums and on Reddit reveals that only a few fans could come to terms with it.
The frustration among players was great. Since you are forced to take some synergy cards at the beginning, it was even more disappointing when there were no meaningful synergies among the following cards.
Blizzard has taken this feedback very seriously and announced on Reddit: The forced synergy selection will be abolished.
In response to a community member’s question about whether a new system would be introduced, there was also an answer:
No, the first two cards will be completely random, just like all 28 other cards of the arena deck.
However, when exactly the patch will go live is still uncertain. The changes will definitely not appear with the next balance patch, but only in a later patch.
