We present to you 5 top decks with which you can thrive in the Hearthstone expansion Kobolds and Catacombs!

The latest expansion of Hearthstone has been live for a few days now. While most players are still attempting the crunchy dungeon runs, the first decks are slowly but surely establishing themselves in ranked play. We want to introduce you to five decks that are particularly effective or at least a lot of fun!

The corresponding codes for the deck lists can be found under each featured deck. Simply copy the string into the clipboard and paste it into Hearthstone, and the game will adopt the deck formula.

Facehunter – Proven and Cheap

Hardly any other class can play as aggressively as the Hunter. This also applies to the new “Tempo Hunter” from Firebat. With small, fast minions and strong spells, the Hunter quickly takes out his enemies before they can even begin to execute their deck strategy.

Six cards from Kobolds and Catacombs are required for this deck, namely two copies each of Scavenging Hyena, Shimmering Emerald and Catacomb Crawlers.

With a total dust cost of 2,720, the deck is still among the cheaper ones and can be relatively affordably acquired even by casual players, as it completely avoids legendary cards.

The instructions are simple, as with a typical face deck: In the early turns, one should strive for board control, and afterwards attack the life points of the opposing hero directly without much regard for losses.

Huge Spell Mage – Mages Love It Big!

Mages are into particularly big spells to create powerful effects. Thanks to Kobolds and Catacombs, there are some synergies that make this really fun! HotMEOWTH emphasizes spells in his deck that can deal with most minions.

Particularly noteworthy is the synergy with the Majestic Summoner, which reveals a spell from the deck and then summons a random minion with the same costs. The Archmage Antonidas also makes a good impression, as this minion with stats of 4/4 costs 0 mana if the player cast a spell that costs 5 or more mana on the turn – better than free!

Big problems are resolved with the Meteor or a Portal: Firelands. If all else fails, Lich King Jaina is waiting to finish off the opponents.

However, this whole fun costs nearly 8,000 Arcane Dust.

Big Ramp Druid – The Premium Deck

How many legendaries can you pack into a single deck so that it still makes sense? At least Kolento reaches the number 8. His Druid deck relies heavily on many legendaries, with which he overpowers his opponents before they have a chance to react. In addition to Deathwing (in both variations), Medivh and Kun, Y’shaarj can also be found in this deck.

With the Branch of the World Tree, which should be replaced by Medivh as soon as possible, the Druid gets a proud 10 mana crystals early on. This is the perfect opportunity to immediately follow up with Kun the Forgotten King or a Lich King. It’s perfect if you have Y’shaarj in hand because then you could bring Kun, Y’shaarj, and one more minion onto the board in a single turn!

Popular cards like Rancid Plague and Plaguebearer must not be missing either to completely sap the opponent’s will to live.

However, such overwhelming power comes at a high price. If you don’t own any of the cards, you need to spend a proud 17,240 Arcane Dust to craft the necessary cards.

Highlander Priest – Double Cards Are for Noobs

With some new cards from Kobolds and Catacombs invigorating it, the archetype of the “Razakus” deck is being expanded. The deck is still fundamentally based on lowering the cost of the hero power to 0 with Raza the Unchained, after which Shadow Reaper Anduin quickly does the job.

The powerful control effect Psychic Scream helps to clear the board of threats without triggering their death rattles. Smaller problems are handled by the cheap Twilight Breaker, which can clear the entire board early in matches.

Otherwise, not much has changed in the Priest deck, only the Catacomb Crawler has been added.

But this deck also comes with relatively high costs – 11,520 Arcane Dust needs to be paid.

Control Warlock – Tougher Than Ever

Control Warlocks have been in high demand for some time now, and with Kobolds and Catacombs, this has not changed. On the contrary: Useful new cards like Dark Pact or the Kobold Librarian give the deck more options to recover from seemingly hopeless situations.

Particularly noteworthy is the addition of the Void Lord, a 3/9 minion with Taunt, which summons three additional 1/3 demons with Taunt upon death, as Blood-Reaver Gul’dan then resurrects four demons – or even seven demons if the Void Lord is destroyed again.

Otherwise, the “usual suspects” can be found in the deck, like Swirling Nether or the Tar Creeper.

Thanks to the low Spellstone, there’s additional lifesteal, allowing the warlock to stay afloat longer to buy the necessary time for Shadow Reaper Gul’dan.

Relatively cheap, only 5,120 Arcane Dust need to change hands to afford the deck.
