Soon, the next expansion of Hearthstone will be launched: Knights of the Frozen Throne. Now that all 135 cards have been revealed, we have picked our favorites and present you our top 5!
Place 5: Blackguard
The Paladin card Blackguard comes in at place 5. This minion costs 6 mana and has strong stats of 3/9 and a pretty powerful effect. Whenever your hero is healed, the minion deals the same amount of damage to a random enemy minion. The combination possibilities with existing heals are really fun here.
But what’s really great is the synergy between lifesteal minions and the Blackguard. Because every time a lifesteal minion heals the hero, the effect is triggered too!
Place 4: Bloodreaver Gul’dan
Place 4 is the death knight transformation of the warlock, Bloodreaver Gul’dan. For 10 mana, you get 5 armor and the new hero power Siphon Life. For 2 mana, it deals 3 damage and you regain that as health thanks to lifesteal!
But the real twist comes with the battle cry: All your dead demons are immediately revived. Finally, there’s a chance for the demon warlock again, and I am looking forward to whipping the life out of my opponents with a horde of succubi…
Place 3: Mindbreaker
Place 3 is the neutral rare minion Mindbreaker. For only 3 mana, it has strong stats of 2/5 and ensures that hero powers are disabled as long as it is alive.
Especially with the new powerful death knight abilities, this is going to be really exciting, but it will also prevent mages from simply “pinging” smaller minions away, as is usually the case. Warlocks will be hindered in their card draw, and druids will lose their resilience – a grand card that will surely become a new standard in many decks.
Place 2: Lich King
Place 2 is the Lich King. He will likely be the new must-have for turn 8 in many situations. For 8 mana, he comes with solid stats of 8/8 and taunt, making him quite a threat. At the end of your turn, you will additionally receive one of 8 possible “death knight” cards with particularly powerful effects.
If you want, you can swing Frostmourne or bring your entire deck onto the field with just one spell.
Place 1: Death Grip
In first place is one of the mentioned death knight cards, namely Death Grip. This spell allows you for just 2 mana to remove a random minion from your opponent’s deck and add it to your hand. Since there are some decks that are waiting for a very specific minion (like the one-turn-kill mage with Antonidas), this card has the potential to become the biggest frustration factor that such “one trick ponies” have to offer. I look forward to making matches with it – and will be furious when I lose my own minions in the process.
