The new game mode “Standard” is coming to Hearthstone. We’ll tell you 5 things you should do beforehand.
Save money and nerves before the Hearthstone expansion
In a few days, Blizzard will make a “big announcement” for Hearthstone and it is an open secret that this will be about the next expansion and a date for the “Standard” game mode. This will change a lot about the card game, which is why players should act wisely now to save time and nerves and avoid getting upset about certain changes later.
On hearthpwn, 5 steps have been compiled that all active players should take to prepare optimally for the switch of the game mode. We have translated the list for you and added explanatory notes.
1. Buy GvG packs
If you want to play in the upcoming “Wild” mode, where all cards are allowed, you should strike now and buy some GvG packs if you’re still missing certain cards. This set is soon going to disappear from the shop and will likely not return. Alternatively, the needed cards can still be crafted using Arcane Dust (even afterwards); however, depending on the type and rarity of the card, this is much more expensive than stocking up on cards now.
2. Buy at least one wing from “Naxxramas”
Just like the GvG packs, Naxxramas will also disappear from the game’s shop. However, there is a small exception! If players have already purchased one wing of the adventure – whether with gold or real money – they can purchase the other wings afterwards. Therefore, it’s worth buying at least the first wing so that you can still obtain the others at a later point.
The cards can be obtained from the bosses as usual, but they can also be crafted using dust. Essentially, it’s only about the single-player experience that you’re missing out on – and probably some legendary cards for the “Wild” mode.
3. Craft Murlocs!
The card “Old Murk-Eye”, a legendary Murloc, is currently given as a “gift” if you own all other Murlocs from the classic set. This will change with the introduction of the new game mode; after that, Old Murk-Eye will only be craftable with Arcane Dust. If you want to secure him at a discounted price, simply craft the following 4 Murlocs using a total of 700 Arcane Dust:
- Deepsea Oracle
- Deepsea Seer
- Murloc Tidecaller
- Murloc Raider
Later, crafting Old Murk-Eye will cost 1600 dust – so you should act quickly.
4. Farm gold!
The advice is actually easy to understand, but it ensures that you consistently complete your daily missions. It’s enough to do this every 3 days. Substitute the “small” quests that only bring in 40 gold with better ones; with a bit of luck, you’ll get a more profitable one. In the past, an expansion has always followed shortly after the announcement. If you start collecting now, you can afford plenty of cards (or arena matches) once the new cards go live. This saves real Euros.
5. Don’t disenchant anything!
If you have extra cards, save them at all costs! Blizzard has announced that numerous cards will be revised, which will likely lead to them being able to be disenchanted for an increased amount of Arcane Dust. If you keep your fingers still now, you could build up a substantial supply of dust, which will give you a good head start in the next expansion.
