Hearthstone reaches a new milestone and presents three new card backs.
33% more players in 6 months
The already successful online card game Hearthstone celebrates another major milestone. As announced last week, the number of players has now risen to an impressive 40 million registered accounts. That is 10 million more players than in May, a growth of 33%. Estimates suggest that Hearthstone generates around 20,000,000$ per month through microtransactions (card packs, arena access, new heroes).
New backs that delight
Last weekend at BlizzCon, not only was the expansion “The Explorers’ League” with all its 45 new cards introduced, but also the mystery of the new card back was revealed. As expected, it is thematically related to the new expansion and comes with its own treasure map. To unlock it, players must reach at least rank 20 in ranked mode during the November season, then the back will be waiting for you in the reward chest starting December 1.
But more card backs have been revealed. Anyone who completes all encounters of the new adventure on heroic difficulty will receive an impressive back styled after the Uldum civilizations from World of Warcraft.
Finally, everyone who secures the Origins version of Overwatch will also receive a card back featuring the shooter’s logo.
