Is healing in World of Warcraft becoming too stressful? Yes, many healers think so. But it’s actually the DPS players who are to blame.
DPS players are usually as common as sand on the beaches in MMORPGs. The situation is different for tanks and healers. Therefore, these players are particularly sought after but also have to bear a lot of responsibility – especially when the rest of the group makes mistakes. They are often blamed for the group’s failures.
Many healers enjoy being helpers and try to carry groups through dungeons, such as those in World of Warcraft. But sometimes it’s just not possible.
In the WoW subreddit, a healer has let loose – and hundreds agree with him.
More about healing will be available soon in the next WoW patch with the mega dungeon:
What did the healer write? The player Seananiganzz wrote a little post explaining:
I really WANT to heal, but damn, it’s just no fun. I meet people who flame me after I healed 16 dungeons with over 90k HPS because my dispel was on its 8-second cooldown and someone died a few times. Over-aggressive demon hunter tanks who jump in with nothing but their leather loincloth and expect me to keep them alive while standing in three puddles of “Bloody” and face-tanking half the dungeon to make the timer.
The amount of actions per minute required from healers is just ridiculous. I love my healing class, but lately, I’ve been preferring to play DPS because I’m afraid of getting an aneurysm when healing high-level keystones.
Does anyone else feel this way?
Indeed, Seananiganzz is not alone in his view. Although the post has received “only” 855 upvotes, the approval rate stands at 91%.
How do other players react to this? Other healers are also speaking up, sharing their experiences, and explaining what makes the dungeons or groups so tough. Some take it lightly, while others give more serious advice.
For instance, vladastine wrote:
I say this as someone who regularly heals high keystones (20 and above): Lower keystones are harder. Most of it happens because DPS players at that level don’t use their toolkit properly. They don’t kick, don’t use CC effects, take devastating amounts of bonus damage, and I’m convinced most of them haven’t even bound their defensive cooldowns to a key.
In this season, DPS must know what they are doing, even with lower keystones. As a healer, you can’t carry the group like you used to. I started tanking because if I’m not playing with my regular group, it’s just stressful and exhausting to heal, and I’m tired of having to babysit the DPS.
Ironically, healing gets easier the higher the keystone. It’s still stressful because everything hurts, but mistakes are just one-shots, so you don’t have to fix the mess. The DPS either do it right or they just die immediately.
Others offer more pragmatic advice and simply recommend avoiding joining groups of unknown players this season. In a guild group with friends, progress is typically smoother, and many mistakes would be avoided naturally.
Do you also play healers, and how do you find the current season? Do you have issues with healing and can you relate to this view?
