A player reports on Reddit that he bought a new graphics card, an RTX 5070 from Nvidia. In his post, he explains in detail that he has a problem: the graphics card does not fit into the designated PCIe slot on his motherboard.

What is the user’s problem? The user explains that the PCIe slot of his graphics card is too thick and therefore does not fit in the slot. But the slot of the graphics card is not too wide; it is only protected by a plastic part. The effort to remove this part is minimal. However, the user did not notice this. Accordingly, the community is quite amused.
Some community members affectionately describe this protection on Reddit as “PCIe condom.” This plastic part is supposed to protect the PCIe connection of the graphics card during transport and prevent damage. The user himself finds the whole thing quite embarrassing, as he notes in a post:

How does the community react? They are surprisingly gracious this time and explain that such a mistake can happen to anyone. Another person points out to him that he should properly connect the HDMI cable next. A mistake that happens again and again in the community.
And one user has one more tip: the player should also insert his M.2 SSD into the upper M.2 slot, as the lower one is likely limited to “PCIe Gen 3” and would therefore be significantly slower than possible.
