In Arcane, there is a villain who primarily operates in the background, yet is still responsible for the worst events. This villain is Singed. The mad scientist has a significant influence on Zhaun. But what is his motivation?

Who is Singed? Singed was not one of the first 20 champions in League of Legends, but he was, along with Zilean, the first “new” champion to expand the pool in 2009. His trademark is the large bottle of toxic liquid that he carries on his back.
In Arcane Season 1, we learn about the scientist as the inventor of the Shimmers. Shimmer is a substance that is distributed as a street drug by Silco in Zhaun. Depending on the amount, it can grant the user superhuman powers, such as strength or healing abilities.
Unlike Silco, Singed is not interested in power or money. His sole focus is his research, which he wants to advance at all costs. He has no empathy for people, and he sees every sacrifice as acceptable as long as his goal is achieved.

What was Singed like in the past? Singed was not always the disfigured scientist. He originally came from Piltover. Through his great intellect and talent for science, he gained early admission to the university there. He was valued, at least until the arrival of Hextech technology.
The combination of magic and science did not sit well with Singed. He looked down on the people who worked with it. He preferred to dive into alchemy. However, his ignorance of Hextech technology led to him being expelled from the university and left without resources.
To advance his research, he moved to Zhaun, where he quickly found work with his alchemy. There, he worked for anyone who paid him and advanced his research. To escape human limits, he created a stimulant.
During his research, he is completely indifferent to morals or ethics. He also experiments with living beings and mixes humans with aspects of animals. As can be inferred from the trailers, he is apparently also responsible for the creation of Warwick.
Ultimately, he even allies with Noxus and builds them a horrific chemical weapon that Noxus intends to use to conquer Ionia.
Singed in Arcane
What does Singed do in Arcane? In Arcane, he is responsible for the creation of Shimmer. He is also relevant to the development of Viktor. As a young man, he acted as a kind of mentor to the young scientist.
In Arcane’s past, Singed was not always the ruthless scientist. He wanted to help Viktor and other people, even working with Heimerdinger. However, he is also responsible for how Jinx became who she is. Singed injected her with chemicals to save her life. As a result, Jinx changed.
In the second season, he is responsible for Warwick. Whether the plot with Noxus will also be addressed in the series is still unknown. However, Ambessa Medarda, a Noxian warlord, is present in Piltover. A meeting between the two doesn’t seem impossible.
