Epic designs skins on its own and then models them into a character that you can purchase in Fortnite. This way, you can either play with your favorite appearance or draw upon many crossovers.
From Marvel superheroes to DC and even other video game heroes, like Kratos, have made it into the colorful shooter. Meanwhile, Epic is improving quietly, without many players noticing. We will show you how the skins of the past differ from those today.
Skins are becoming more realistic
Fortnite has been on the market since 2017. So quite a few skins have rolled into the game. All the old skins still have the Fortnite touch. Faces look as if they are sculpted from clay. They are very imaginative and colorful skins and particularly designed to be original and simple. However, a lot has changed after 4.5 years.
Let’s take a look at the Reaper skin compared to the real “John Wick” skin. Both are meant to symbolize Keanu Reeves from the movie “John Wick”. The Reaper skin is a Fortnite variant of the actor.
You can see in the face that the facial hair and hairstyle clearly stem from him. However, the facial features are far off. There are hardly any similarities. However, if you look at the “John Wick” skin from Season 9 Chapter 1, you immediately recognize that this is John Wick. Epic has improved so much that personalities can now also be ported into the game.
Why is this good? Looking at the development of the new costumes, you can see that more realistic personalities are possible. Ariana Grande, J Balvin, and other well-known stars and streamers have made it into Fortnite.
Players who finally want to dominate the field with their idols therefore get the chance to do so. Thanks to these realistic changes, more human-like costumes are possible.
Does the Fortnite feeling suffer because of this? Anyone who has been playing from the beginning certainly misses the bulky skins that were released in 2017. But with ongoing progress, Fortnite does not lose its character, but rather creates a way to forge even more unique skins.
If you look at Shanta or Gum Guy that have been available since Chapter 3, you can see that Fortnite still creates original creations. Some of them are more detailed and almost appear like a work of art. Others are completely bizarre and come off as playful.
