World of Warcraft: Dragonflight has been well received. But has it strengthened your trust in Blizzard? Or do you still have doubts?
In the meantime, World of Warcraft Dragonflight has been released for almost 2 months and most players should have had the chance to level their characters to 70 and try out the endgame content. However, many remain skeptical, and current numbers from raids or Mythic+ suggest that Blizzard lost many players with Shadowlands, who didn’t even give Dragonflight a chance.
We want to take this opportunity to find out whether Blizzard was able to regain lost trust with Dragonflight or if the expansion is just a disappointment for you. But let’s recap what has happened in World of Warcraft and at Blizzard over the past years and months.
Overall, Blizzard has been shaken by several scandals over the years. There were many accusations of sexism within the company and specifically at the World of Warcraft development team. This led to many layoffs and restructuring. As part of these adjustments, many NPCs were renamed and some controversial decisions were made, such as replacing an image of a woman with fruit or removing numerous sexist jokes.
But even aside from the company scandals, Shadowlands was not well received by large parts of the community. There were many “mandatory contents”, huge content droughts, and general gameplay decisions that were criticized.
With Dragonflight, Blizzard promised improvement – as it has often done before – but this time the general tone seems to be that something has really changed. There are noticeably fewer “chores” in the game, the story and world feel consistent, and the return to the old talent system with skill trees is well received. Almost every week there are hotfixes or balance changes, and just a few weeks after the release, there was the first patch, with the second already on the PTR. There is also the stated goal of wanting to bring a total of 6 patches in 2023 – so plenty of content.
But now let’s talk about you! In this survey, we want to find out how Dragonflight has been received by you and whether it has changed your trust in Blizzard. Please note that you only have one vote, and you cannot change your answer afterward:
If you want to justify your answer a bit better, feel free to leave us a comment and explain why Blizzard has succeeded in winning you back positively with Dragonflight – or why exactly that was not the case.
