After Borderlands 3 was initially not represented at the Video Game Awards despite corresponding rumors, there are now further rumors. These talk about an Alpha and 4 classes.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford recently caused some strange tweets which led to rumors. These gave fans hope for an announcement of Borderlands 3 on St. Nicholas Day. Ultimately, the disappointment was great when the Game Awards were over and Borderlands 3 was not mentioned anywhere.
Now a video has been released that allegedly has exclusive information about Borderlands 3. The YouTube channel The Know speaks of a confidential source that is said to have revealed the first details about the long-awaited shooter. It is rumored that Borderlands 3 is in an advanced Alpha and will have 4 classes at launch.

Are these the 4 classes of Borderlands 3?
The classes are said to look like this: Borderlands 3 will probably have four different classes at launch that fans may partly recognize:
- Beastmaster: With the Beastmaster, you can apparently summon up to three animals that assist you in battle. The principle somewhat reminds one of the Hunter from Borderlands 1.
- Soldier: With the Soldier, you can activate a large mech suit that is said to resemble Titanfall. You can command the mech on the battlefield. Part of the skill tree is apparently focused on cooperative gameplay. Thus, the mech can carry a turret that can be operated by other players.
- Siren: This class should be familiar to many from previous installments. This time, however, it will have a melee focus, similar to Brick from Borderlands 2.
- Assassin: The Assassin is said to be heavily inspired by Zero from Borderlands 2. He can apparently deploy decoys to distract enemies.
If the descriptions are accurate, these would be new classes that partly take elements from the old ones.

Borderlands 3 is reportedly in advanced Alpha – no release in sight
When will Borderlands 3 be released? Unfortunately, the source had nothing to report about that. It is only said that Borderlands 3 is in advanced Alpha. The game is not ready yet, and there is still a lot of work left to do.
However, the latest rumors suggest that late 2019 seems to be a logical release window for Borderlands 3.
More details from the video:
- Apparently, there will be several vaults in the game that you can open.
- If you progress far enough in the campaign, you can apparently unlock a room. In this room, you can display your weapons as trophies and show them to your friends.
Keep in mind: This is a rumor. There is no official confirmation of this information. However, the creators of the video confidently state that the source is trustworthy.

How credible is the rumor? The Know is a YouTube channel by Rooster Teeth. This is a US media company. Some Halo fans may remember the funny “Red vs. Blue” series, where in-game scenes were compiled and dubbed.
It would be disadvantageous for the company to release such information without checking its credibility.
