In Harry Potter there are many interesting wizarding families. One of the most heartfelt are the Weasleys. In their “Burrow,” Harry finds a kind of second home, and the various family members of the Weasleys play a significant role throughout the story. But which redhead is actually the most powerful?
These are the Weasleys:
- The Weasleys are one of the oldest wizarding families. Although they have no Muggle ancestors, they care nothing for their “pure blood” and fundamentally stand against any discrimination.
- The family lives in a crooked house called “the Burrow” (in the original: “The Burrow”), near Ottery St. Catchpole. This is a fictional place, about 300 kilometers west of London.
- All Weasleys are easily recognizable by their appearance. They have bright red hair, freckles, and due to financial difficulties, often wear slightly worn wizarding cloaks.
What was the ranking based on?
- The ranking refers to the most well-known family members, consisting of the parents Molly and Arthur and their seven children.
- It focuses on magical ability, especially in combat.
- The basis for the ranking is primarily the books.
Attention Spoiler: To explain the ranking, various events from films and books will be discussed.
Place 8: Percy
Percy is a classic case of “booksmart, not streetsmart.” He was a real model student, first head boy and then student council president. Later he works in the Ministry and meticulously follows all orders of his superiors.
But his blind trust and obsession with rules often get in his way when it counts. He is also known more for his diligence than his magical abilities. Therefore, he ends up in the last place of this ranking.
Place 7: Arthur
The family man Arthur Weasley is a big fan of Muggles and a very loving person. When it comes to raising children, he prefers to leave it to his wife to speak firmly.
As a true Gryffindor, he is always brave, especially when it comes to protecting his family or working for the Order of the Phoenix. For example, in the seventh book, he takes on the role of “Secret Keeper,” thus bearing the responsibility for the protection of the safe house.
Nonetheless, he is known more for his endearingly quirky nature than for particularly outstanding power. Therefore, he takes 7th place.
Place 6: Ron

Okay, it may be surprising at first not to see Ron higher in the ranking. As part of the “magical trio” and Harry’s best friend, he is the most present Weasley in the story.
As the sixth son of the family, he often stands in the shadow of his older brothers, which makes him feel insecure. Nevertheless, he accomplishes many impressive feats alongside Harry, starting from the legendary chess game in Part 1 to the destruction of a Horcrux in Book 7.
All these feats are primarily due to his loyal and brave Gryffindor nature. As for his magical power, he was never particularly talented. Right from the start, we see him as somewhat clumsy. For instance, he tries to color his rat Scabbers with the unconvincing spell “Eidotter, Gänsekraut und Sonnenschein, gelb soll diese dumme, fette Ratte sein!” And then he simply can’t get the levitation spell “Wingardium Leviosa” right.
Therefore, he only achieves 6th place in this ranking, sorry Ron.
Place 5: Ginny

The only daughter and youngest member of the Weasley family is Ginevra “Ginny” Weasley. With six older brothers, she learned to assert herself early on.
Unfortunately, the portrayal in the films does not really do justice to her character. But in the books, she is really tough and can give Harry, with whom she later has a relationship, a good counter.
Although she was never allowed to practice with her brothers, she managed to develop her skills in Quidditch entirely on her own and even played as a successful athlete on the “Holyhead Harpies” team.
Her magical abilities are also not to be underestimated. At just 14 years old, she was (just like Harry) able to conjure a Patronus. Quickly, her skills in “Defensive Magical Arts” surpassed those of her brothers.
Despite her young age, she ultimately fights in the final “Battle of Hogwarts” – against her parents’ wishes – alongside her friends and family. Thus, she has rightfully earned 5th place.

Place 4: Fred and George

There is probably no one who can compete with the twin brothers Fred and George when it comes to mischief. Even in school, they invented various “joke items” that they later distributed.
Later, they founded the successful shop “Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.” From “Joke and Sweet Treats” to love potions – their assortment was enormous. After the outbreak of the “second wizarding war,” they even developed some items for defense, such as the “Bluffknaller” or clothing with built-in protection spells.
To produce all these products, Fred and George often invented their own spells. This is an art that is notoriously only mastered by exceptionally powerful witches and wizards. Even if they use their power in rather unconventional ways, the twins should not be underestimated.
Place 3: Charlie

Like his younger sister, Charlie was also a gifted Quidditch player. After his successful school years, he even received the offer to play for the English national team.
However, he chose to work in a dragon reserve in Romania, which brought him some burns.
Though we do not learn much about the second oldest Weasley brother, working with such powerful creatures as dragons requires not only courage but also extraordinary magical skills. Therefore, Charlie secures third place in this ranking.
Place 2: Bill

William “Bill” Weasley is the eldest son of Molly and Arthur. His (according to the book’s description) extravagant appearance with a ponytail and dragon tooth earring makes him look “just cool” in Harry’s eyes.
In the battle against the werewolf Greyback, his face was severely injured. Although not much is known about this fight, he survived the attack of the dangerous Death Eater.
Although he was not a classic “nerd,” he became a prefect during his school years and even served as head boy. After his time at Hogwarts, he began working for the wizarding bank Gringotts as a “curse breaker” in Egypt.
This profession is probably one of the most demanding and dangerous in the wizarding world, as complex magical protections must be recognized, secured, and broken. Only a truly capable wizard could perform this job so well. Therefore, Bill takes 2nd place.
Place 1: Molly

Molly is a loving mother, wife, and in a sense the heart of the Weasley family. She resolutely asserts herself to keep her chaotic children in line.
For her family – whom she also considers Harry to be part of – she would do anything. And that is her greatest strength. For when she sees her only daughter threatened by the evil Death Eater Bellatrix Lestrange in the Battle of Hogwarts, Mama Weasley shows what she is made of.
In a fierce duel, she manages to defeat the Death Eater. This is so remarkable because Bellatrix was not only one of Voldemort’s most loyal followers but also considered one of the most powerful and feared witches.
Even though Molly does not often display her power, one would not want to cross her, especially not threaten any of her children. With her incomparable act, she takes 1st place in this ranking.
