3. Fred Weasley and Angelina Johnson
Fred and Angelina were already good friends before the ball. They are in the same year and share their passion for Quidditch. Fred’s invitation, expressed merely through a few gestures, can only be described as “smooth.”
The two really fit well together. However, due to Fred’s tragic death in the last part, we will unfortunately never know if the couple could have become something serious. Instead, Angelina marries Fred’s twin brother George Weasley.
2. Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang

The school champion Cedric Diggory and the popular Cho Chang are a picture-perfect couple. If there had been such a thing as a ball king and queen at the Yule Ball, they would likely have won.
Although it seems Cho already had a little crush on Harry at that point, her appearance with Cedric was nonetheless enchanting.
Unfortunately, we will never know if the two could have become more, as Cedric tragically dies at the end of the Triwizard Tournament. Still, the second place in this ranking goes to the wonderful couple.
1. Hermione Granger and Viktor Krum

Whether or not you like Hermione and Viktor, the Durmstrang school champion, together – their appearance at the Yule Ball was unmatched.
Probably no one would have expected that the famous Quidditch star Viktor Krum would invite the known bookworm Hermione to the Yule Ball. Yet it is Hermione, who does not care for his fame, who is a welcome change for Krum, who is otherwise besieged by hordes of fangirls.
Together, the two have a lot of fun and a great chemistry, even though Ron’s jealousy prematurely ends the evening. While the two do not end up together, they maintain their friendship through letter correspondence.
As the surprise couple number one, Hermione and Krum thus take the first place in this ranking.
