7. Horace Slughorn

After Dumbledore brought him out of retirement with Harry’s help, Horace Slughorn took the position of Potions teacher and head of Slytherin House. He excelled in the role of mentor and enjoyed promoting young talents with great potential for success.
However, one should not be misled by his appearance and his slightly eccentric manner. Both Lucius Malfoy and Dumbledore himself made it clear how much they appreciated Slughorn’s magical abilities.
He is an extremely talented potion maker, possesses extensive knowledge, and has a considerable collection of magical objects.
6. Filius Flitwick
Unfortunately, we do not see enough of Filius Flitwick in Harry Potter to assess the full extent of his magical power. As the head of Ravenclaw House, he possesses outstanding intelligence and is a true master of the subject of “Charms,” which he has been teaching for several decades.
After his time at Hogwarts, the half-giant also became a great duelist and received the title of “Duel Master.”
He also proved his skill in combat during the Battle of Hogwarts, where he shielded the castle from the Death Eaters with complex protective spells.

5. Remus Lupin
As a former friend of James Potter, Remus Lupin was also a loyal ally and mentor to Harry.
Despite his difficult fate as a werewolf, he was probably one of the best teachers for “Defense Against the Dark Arts.” In his third year, he managed to teach Harry the difficult Patronus Charm.
His extensive knowledge and magical skill, his calm yet firm demeanor, and his courage in fighting evil make Lupin an exceedingly capable wizard.
4. Alastor Moody

Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody was never really a teacher at Hogwarts, as the Death Eater Barty Crouch Junior took his place. However, he was officially hired by Dumbledore, and therefore finds a place in this ranking.
Moody is considered the most famous Auror of all time and, as such, brought countless Death Eaters to Azkaban. In the first wizarding war against Voldemort, he was one of the most important members of the “Order of the Phoenix” and lost his eye, a leg, and part of his nose in the relentless battle against evil.
Through all these experiences, Mad-Eye became somewhat over-cautious and paranoid toward the end of his life. Nevertheless, he can hold his own in terms of combat and experience against most wizards, placing him in fourth place.
