More than four projects are currently in development at CD Projekt Red. The latest quarterly report provided an update on the current status of The Witcher 4 and its counterparts.
What does the quarterly report reveal? In the released document (via cdprojekt.com), the leaders of CD Projekt Red announced that “Project Polaris” has left pre-production and entered the production phase.
Polaris is the first role-playing game in the new Witcher trilogy, in which the Witcher Geralt of Riva will not be the main character for the first time. According to the ambitious plan of the developers, the two subsequent games are expected to be released within six years after Polaris.
During the earnings call regarding the quarterly report, Piotr Nielubowicz, Chief Financial Officer at CD Projekt, stated (via pcgamer.com):
Of all our projects, this one is currently the most advanced, and we are entering the most intense phase of development. I would like to thank the team for their dedication and wish for further progress.
The importance of Polaris to the studio is reflected in the distribution of teams. Of the 650 developers, around 400 were working on The Witcher 4 as of October 31, 2024.

What else is CD Projekt Red working on? The Witcher developer has several other projects in the works:
- Project Orion: Sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which will utilize Unreal Engine 5 – 64 developers are on the project
- Project Sirius: Spin-off for the Witcher universe, focusing on single-player and story, but also featuring multiplayer and online modes (developed in collaboration with the studio The Molasses Flood) – 42 developers from CD Projekt Red are supporting
- Project Hadar: Game for a completely new IP, still in the conceptual phase – 18 developers are laying the groundwork
- New animation project for Cyberpunk for Netflix
Additionally, there are 107 employees working in areas such as artificial intelligence, localization, or quality assurance, as well as 19 employees working on yet-unknown projects.
What else is known? Despite its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has sold like hotcakes. By November 26, 2024, the role-playing game is expected to have sold about 30 million copies.
