In the Free2Play shooter Halo Infinite, reports from players and e-sport professionals indicate that the first cheaters are already at work. Among other things, aimbots are said to be in play to gain unfair advantages. Players are now concerned that things could get even worse in the future.
What is the situation in Halo Infinite? In the free multiplayer mode of Halo Infinite, players have discovered the first cheaters. For example, pro gamer CouRage shared his frustration via Twitter.
Quickly, other top players, including pros Clayster and kiffdog, came forward to report annoying cheaters plaguing them in their matches. Clayster summarized it as follows:
Just encountered a cheater in the FIESTA playlist in Halo… on Thanksgiving… some people really need to get their lives together.
Halo Infinite is more popular than ever, but so are cheaters
What does cheating look like? On reddit, a player also shared a highly read post (3.7K upvotes, 1K comments, as of 27.11.2021). In it, he shows aimbot cheaters in action. The user wonders if it will only get worse soon, as the first aimbot cheaters are already roaming a good week after launch.
What are the players’ reactions? Users in the comments are understandably upset about the cheaters and wonder why anyone would bother cheating in a simple playlist without ranks. It would be even worse if this happened later in ranked matches, with cheaters unfairly climbing to high ranks.
Halo Infinite is free-to-play in multiplayer mode and is currently at the top of the Free2Play charts. Therefore, there are concerns that even more cheaters will soon flood the game.
Additionally, some players complain that crossplay is to blame for everything. They argue that if console players kept to themselves, the cheaters, who primarily play on PC, would no longer bother them.
What are the developers doing? So far, nothing has been taken on by the developers. However, Halo Infinite has not fully launched yet, and it is possible that the developers will take further steps.
Various players are also calling for an anti-cheat solution with kernel drivers and hardware bans, similar to what Valorant is already doing and what Call of Duty: Warzone plans to do soon.
Players also hope that the reporting function for suspected cheaters will improve. Currently, the report button is not easy to find and opens an external browser window where users must manually enter the cheater’s information. Many players wish for an easier solution.
Cheaters, by the way, are not the only things frustrating players in Halo Infinite right now. A part of the community is currently very upset about the steep prices in the in-game shop and asks: ‘Are you kidding me?’
