In the zombie MMO H1Z1, work continues on features and details for the game. Currently, they are focused on birds and firearms, an explosive combination.
After deer, bears, and zombies, birds also come to H1Z1
In the survival MMO H1Z1, it seems they want to incorporate more features into the game before launching in early access. Right now, they are working on birds. In the following video, you can clearly see how the birds will behave and how they are supposed to contribute to the atmosphere in the game:
The AI seems to be active here as well, triggering different behaviors depending on which animal it is assigned to. It is easy to see how the birds gradually swoop down on the carcass of the poor deer instead of landing in a clump.
On Twitter, chief developer John Smedley was teased a bit on the topic and asked whether a “real” bird flight could be depicted in the game with a large, multi-headed swarm of crows and their complicated flight patterns. Smedley’s response: Our guys can do it, but I think your computers would have a problem with it.
Sniper rifle and shotgun introduced
Alongside the work on the crows and the numerous other projects that parts of the H1Z1 team are currently working on, developer Jimmy Whisenhunt always takes the time to introduce and tease his passion, the weapon arsenal, in more detail. Whisenhunt was previously a renowned Counter-Strike player, he still occasionally streams CS:GO, and knows what excites the fans: firearms.
In this short tweet, you can see him fine-tuning the shotgun. Here, the challenge is to get the spread and bullet velocity just right:

But not only at close range does H1Z1 want to provide a rich selection of weapons for the players, danger is also supposed to come from afar. Here, you can see an early version of a sniper rifle in action, which definitely ruins the day for a dummy:
