In the zombie MMO H1Z1 today, on April 24th at 12:00 PM, a patch will be released. This will activate the H1Z1 virus as a new feature.
At 12:00 PM today, the latest patch for H1Z1 will be released. It will take about two hours for the H1Z1 servers to be back online. We have summarized the patch notes for you in German; the update will include:
- Improving Molotov cocktails so that they deal more damage to zombies and players
- Introducing grenades, but only an early version that does not collide with players or zombies and cannot break windows
- The patch will bring night vision goggles
- And it is now possible to relieve bound players of their items
In the live stream, the two SOE employees Jimmy Whisenhunt and Adam Clegg presented the patch.
What happens to players who have been infected with H1Z1
The most important feature is the arrival of the namesake virus in the already rough game world. You can even intentionally infect yourself with this virus, and later it will also be possible to directly infect others with the virus. This is done through the item “extracted infected Blood” – sounds like a syringe.
Normally, you get the virus when the natural immunity against H1Z1 suffers from too many zombie attacks and you eventually become infected.
The virus cannot be cured, only delayed. It ends only with the player’s death. During this process, the virus spreads further and the player experiences various phases of infection, making them increasingly zombie-like.
This is what happens to the infected in each phase:
1st Phase
- Players take slight damage repeatedly
2nd Phase
- The player continues to take damage.
- They start to cough, which can be heard by others or wild animals can be startled by it
- Zombies will no longer attack them but will defend against attacks.
3rd Phase
- Coughing stops
- Regular damage increases
- The player becomes somewhat slower
- Normal food and drink no longer help; the player must feed on the corpses of wild animals or the bodies of dead player characters and zombies – they are a scavenger
- The infected can now smell survivors (but this is probably not properly implemented in the game yet)
4th Phase
- Severe damage over time
- Zombie vision (this should also be revised later)
- Food restrictions still apply
Medications help to stop the virus, but they cannot cure it. Antibiotics are the most effective, and with multi-vitamin tablets, you can boost your immunity.
