In Guild Wars 2, players will soon have new ways to eliminate differences: custom arenas can be built!

With the Heart of Thorns expansion, Guild Wars 2 brings back the long-awaited guild halls to Tyria. In the latest developer blog, one of the most important features of these halls was discussed: the arenas. Here, players can host their own PvP tournaments or other events and even design the battlefield themselves!
What needs to be done?
To start building their own arena, players must visit the NPC “Castor Roar” (which is definitely the best name for a PvP commentator) and assist him with a small quest. At the end of this quest, the guild gains access to a circular arena with a spectator stand. At the same time, 2 more NPCs appear, each assigned to a team: red or blue. When players speak to the characters, they become a member of the respective team and can enter the arena. What this will bring? That’s up to the players! PvP tournaments among rival guilds, arena fights for the amusement of the masses as an RP event, or a big showdown for who has the meanest little plant (Sylvari) on the server.
The sandbox elements
Because a circular arena alone is not enough to keep players entertained for long, and to stimulate creativity, it doesn’t stop there: The arena can be modified! Numerous pillars can be placed to define the existing combat area, and jump pads can also elevate the fights to multiple levels.
The deadly abyss at the edge of the arena can be secured and fenced if necessary. While ordinary decorations from the guild halls cannot be placed, there are otherwise hardly any limits to the design possibilities. Through various upgrades, it can even be further expanded: In addition to a third team, a deathmatch mode can be unlocked!
This feature seems perfectly suited for the community to create their own content. If the building space is not enough, there’s no need to despair: The developers are already working on an update to offer another, larger arena. But even now, teams of up to 20 players can easily have their fun.
