Guild Wars 2 enhances its combat system with some new settings to make it even more action-packed.
Crosshairs Make Everything Better
With Heart of Thorns, players can improve their experience in the world of Tyria (especially in the Maguuma Jungle) and make it significantly more action-oriented. A new option allows all characters to activate the action camera mode, which modifies the controls of Guild Wars 2 slightly.
Once activated, a small crosshair will appear on your screen, allowing you to aim at enemies like in a shooter. When your mouse hovers over a target, it will be highlighted so it’s always clear which enemy is currently the focus of your actions.
There are automatic aim assists (for quickly locking onto enemies), but these can be turned off if desired. The crosshair also provides useful hints, allowing you to see immediately whether the focused target is within the range of your abilities.
Guild Wars 2 thus aligns itself with more action-oriented combat systems like those in Tera. WildStar also introduced such a change with the major Free2Play patch, which was mostly positively received by players as it made the gameplay feel more exciting without disturbing the beloved core mechanics.
