In New World there is currently a huge problem with false bans. Players are being reported in droves to keep them from participating in a war. The situation has escalated to the point that half of all players in one company are now banned. However, Amazon denies that bans are happening automatically.
What is the situation with the bans? For several days now, players have been using an unfair mechanic where they report a player from the opposing faction as a cheater until that player receives a 24-hour ban. Typically, the player has done nothing wrong and has been reported unjustly.
The 24-hour ban seems to be imposed automatically if there are enough reports, even though Amazon claims otherwise.
After the 24 hours, the player can usually continue to play normally.
Why are these bans happening? This method is used to deliberately exclude opposing players from a war and thus increase the chance of taking over enemy territory.
Banned players cannot participate in such a battle.
One company has been particularly hard hit, with half of its players being excluded from the battle.

What happened to the company? As Reddit user grayson1478 reports, 50 out of 100 players in his company have been banned. The guild has already given up the fight for their territory. The player demands:
This is totally insane. We need a fix as soon as possible.
The guild is not alone with the bans. On Reddit, there are now dozens of threads on the subject, which is primarily a problem in America.
The Twitch streamer Jack “CouRage” Dunlop has also been affected in the course of these bans. Several of the best players from his guild have been banned.

What does Amazon say about the issue? There has been no official statement regarding the bans due to mass reporting as of yet. However, there are several statements claiming that bans are not automated but are imposed manually.
On October 1, the developer Windsward stated via Steam that there are no automatic bans and that all reports are reviewed by humans. Errors may occur, but according to him, every ban has been justified up to that point.
Finally, NW-Mugsy commented on automated bans on October 10. By then, the problem with the 24-hour bans had already escalated. Although his comments were not about these bans specifically, but another problem, the community manager explained:
I want to apologize for the statement made by Moderator_Z. I am unsure why he believed we were using bots for clarification, but we will investigate this irregularity.
We use Easy Anti-Cheat for those caught cheating. Perhaps he was confused about the differences between this method and the handling of reports about the conduct code in the game. I will work with him and the team to ensure that no conflicting information is provided in the future.

How are players reacting to this? On Reddit and in the forum, players doubt these statements. There have been too many unjustified bans in recent days to support them.
The Reddit user Zozorak explained the situation only as being a case where a person simply clicks “Ban” automatically without even looking at the tickets. While this means it is not bots, there is also no fair chance to avoid being wrongly banned.
