The largest investment bank in Korea gives assessments on the MMORPGs Guild Wars 2 and WildStar .
Daewoo Securities has once again examined NCSoft and its finances. In an analysis, they provided assessments of the market situation for the Korean MMO giant.
At Daewoo, they believe the numbers for the fourth quarter of 2015 will be “rather sobering.” They come to the conclusion that the expansion “Heart of Thorns” did not sell as well as expected for Guild Wars 2 and that NCSoft will need to lower its forecasts. Nonetheless, they still predict high revenue figures for GW2 in the fourth quarter of 2015 – after all, the release was a highlight.
For WildStar, however, the assessment from the Koreans looks bleak. They predict no significant revenue increase despite the Free2Play transition. For the year 2016, they foresee declining revenues, until WildStar is expected to play an almost negligible role in the winter of 2016.
Analysts believe NCSoft’s future depends on mobile titles
In the long run, Daewoo Securities believes in NCSoft’s success, but they do not think it will come from growth in current titles like Blade and Soul, Lineage, or Aion . The analysts believe that success will be driven by “mobile games” based on the franchises Blade and Soul and Lineage. How these games are received will determine the year 2016.
As a highlight, they see Lineage Eternal . It is set to be released on both PC and mobile. They have the second half of 2016 in sight, where according to Daewoo, Lineage Eternal is expected to be presented. Daewoo believes a lot depends on this title for NCSoft. In March, Daewoo already correctly predicted that competitor Nexon would exit the less than harmonious business relationship with NCSoft if NCSoft’s financial situation improves.
