The roll bug is back: Roll bugs are true fan favorites in Guild Wars. These rolling insects were a hit every year at the New Year’s festival of Guild Wars 1. Players could transform into the bugs there and hold races in a mini-game.
The first new mount: Mounts were finally introduced in Guild Wars 2 with the last expansion Path of Fire. With the current update “Long Live the Lich”, a new mount has been added for the first time: The roll bug!

The roll bug is a completely new mount: It is not just a reskin of the five already known mounts. Therefore, it has completely new and unique abilities. In a detailed video by the YouTuber Tekkit, you can see how the roll bug plays.
The bug behaves more like a pod racer from Star Wars than a mount. Its control is heavily based on speed and momentum.
Additionally, the bug has the following properties:
- It can zoom super fast around with a booster
- The bug can drift like a pro! This way, you can take tight corners without braking
- You can roll over opponents and knock them down
- Roll bugs can break through certain walls
- You can perform stunts in mid-air to regain endurance
