The elite specialization of the warrior in Guild Wars 2, which appears with the expansion Heart of Thorns, is now known. And it is quite furious.
The fire of wrath burns strong
With the upcoming expansion Heart of Thorns, all classes will receive a so-called elite specialization. Now, the specialization of the warrior has finally been introduced on the zam.com page, and it is full of bloodlust and raw, brutal violence: The Berserker enters the battlefield!
The playstyle of the Berserker
Warriors can switch to Berserker mode once their adrenaline bar is completely filled. Once activated, the Berserker mode remains active until its duration expires – premature deactivation is not possible, once in the bloodlust, our warrior slaughters until nothing stands or time runs out.
On one hand, the Berserker mode changes the warrior’s adrenaline gauge – from a maximum of 30 adrenaline, it is reduced to only 10. This means, conversely, that the Berserker reaches his maximum adrenaline much faster and can burn through it more frequently.
The second innovation is the “Primal Burst Skills” – essentially variations of the original burst abilities (which are on the F1 key), but they have a significantly lower cooldown, as the Berserker’s adrenaline logically fills up faster.
A small example: The Skull Grinder
Berserkers with a mace gain the Primal Burst skill “Skull Grinder” – a variation of the original “Skull Crack”. Both skills interrupt the opponent in their action, but the new variant also inflicts several negative conditions on the enemy.
All Primal Burst skills count as level 3 abilities, so traits do not experience a debuff just because the warrior builds up 10 instead of 30 adrenaline in Berserker mode.
New weapons and Rage Skills: The brutal strength of the Berserker
Berserkers will have the ability to carry a torch into battle – this weapon typically provides useful skills for curing conditions or enabling faster movement, but not for the Berserker. He ignites the battlefield (and himself) in flames, leaves a burning trail behind him, and simply cauterizes his own negative conditions away.
Besides that, the warrior gains access to new Rage Skills. Although there is currently just one example of this, it sounds promising: Wild Blow hurls an enemy back and uses them as a projectile – if the enemy hits other opponents, they also suffer high damage!
On Friday, the developers plan to reveal more details about the elite specialization – it will definitely be brutal and wild.
