Finally, the first information about Season 2 of Guild Wars 2 is trickling through. It will start on July 1, 2014, and of course, the living world will change again – which is both a blessing and a curse for us players. So far, it has been the case that you either experienced an episode of the Living World yourself, or the content disappeared over time. This repeatedly resulted in criticism from players, who did not find the time to play through the episodes regularly.
But ArenaNet seems to have heard the players’ pleas and will introduce a new system in Guild Wars 2 starting with the next season: From now on, the episodes of the living world will be integrated into your character story – so you can always access them later, as long as you logged in at least once during the two weeks when the episode was active.
The positive aspect is clearly that the pressure to play regularly is finally gone. Now you decide for yourself when to play and especially how intensely! As a result, the rewards of the Living World will also be permanently available. You will also be able to achieve successes indefinitely – but these will naturally be significantly more difficult than before.
But where there is light, there is also shadow: Unfortunately, the episodes of the first season will not be included in the chronicle. What is gone is gone. Whether the first season will eventually be added to the chronicle is still unclear – but ArenaNet is apparently working on it. To receive the episodes of Season 2 for free, you must log in at least once within the two-week period when an episode is active! Otherwise, you will need to invest 200 gems or gold to replay an already past episode.

[intense_testimony_text]The idea is really great and is receiving positive feedback from many players. However, the costs for those casual players, who cannot manage to log in within the two weeks, are being criticized. What do you think? Is it okay for ArenaNet to charge players for the episodes, or should it be available for free?
Personally, I’m torn: Of course, you want everything to be free. On the other hand, it’s probably not too much to ask to log in once every two weeks to receive the episode for free. Realistically speaking, one must say that this is a good compromise, and ArenaNet needs to finance itself somehow. In short: Great innovation and I just set an alarm to log in, for example every Sunday evening for a bit. ;-)[/intense_testimony_text]
