With the new expansion, another way to obtain the mount Skywhisper has been introduced in Guild Wars 2. In this guide, we reveal how to do it.
What do you need before the collection? To complete the collection, you must have the latest expansion Secrets of the Obscure. Additionally, you’ll need to gather some materials that you can earn beforehand:
- 27 Gold
- 12 Charged Quartz Crystals – You obtain these when you have 25 Quartz Crystals in your inventory and charge them at a place of power (hero points where you can channel). However, this can only be done once per day, so it’s best to start right away!
- 24 pieces of Wild Meat – Obtained from drops or the Trading Post
- 60 Ectoplasm Balls – Obtained from recycling yellow equipment or from the Trading Post
- 300 Bloodstone Dust – Obtained from various bags, as drops or from mining Bloodstone
- 29 Supplier Marks – You receive these once per day per vendor in exchange for various items. You can find these vendors in the capitals and in the areas of Heart of Thorns and Secrets of the Obscure. There are a total of 30, but you won’t always have each material. It’s better to start here directly as well.
- 375 Static Charges – Obtained for completing events in the Skywatch Archipelago and as a reward for various achievements.
- 375 Pinch of Stardust – Obtained for completing events in Amnytas and as a reward for various achievements.
- 500 Essence of Despair – Obtained for completing rift events.
Additionally, you’ll need to visit a number of locations and complete tasks, which you can find in the collection under Secrets of the Obscure -> Horn of Maguuma -> A New Friend Finds. We’ll reveal the individual steps here in the guide.
It’s advisable to start leveling the new mastery line “Flight Training” in the meantime, as you will need to reach the level “Spiritual Flight” to complete it.
Is the collection also worth it for owners of the Skywhisper? Yes, because, on the one hand, players who already own the Skywhisper receive an achievement in the Wizard’s Vault with 300 currency and, of course, the 5 achievement points. On the other hand, a new collection is unlocked with a new skin for the Skywhisper.
By the way, if you want to complete the old collection, you can find a detailed guide in this article:
Find an orphaned Skywhisper Egg
For this first task, you need to find a Skywhisper Egg. This is randomly located in one of 11 Skywhisper nests in the Skywatch Archipelago or in one of 9 nests in Amnythas. You may need to visit all 20 nests, but some players have found it much faster.
We have included two maps for you here, marking the nests. We start with the Skywatch Archipelago:
- Egg 1 is simply on the ground beneath the adventure route
- Egg 2 is clearly visible on the green ground
- Egg 3 is at the highest point of the Garrenhoff Islands
- Egg 4 is located at the top of the high flying island. Just walk to the northwest edge there.
- Egg 5 is on the rock that is easily recognizable on the map
- Egg 6 is in one of the ruined houses
- Egg 7 is on the roof of the building
- Egg 8 is at the northern tip of the Rising Perch, just below the main island. You can simply let yourself fall there and won’t need to fly significantly.
- Egg 9 is at the top of the flying island
- Egg 10 is located on the largest island that paves the way to the Wizard’s Tower in the air
- Egg 11 can only be reached after the meta event
Amnytas:
- Egg 1 is located below the tower but still on the associated island
- Egg 2 is at the very top of the wall on a round plateau
- Egg 3 is to the north from the waypoint on the green plateau at the very top
- Egg 4 is simply slightly elevated in the grass
- Egg 5 is also clearly visible in the grass
- Egg 6 is slightly lower on a ledge
- Egg 7 is at the top of the tower, a bit higher than the ring around
- Egg 8 is hidden below the fortress on a ledge
- Egg 9 is also slightly lower on a ledge
Egg found: Once you find the egg, you need to return directly to the first waypoint in the Skywatch Archipelago. There, you must speak with Dyanne, who is standing right next to the adventure. She will then give you three more collections.
Skywhisper Egg Infusion
For this collection, you have two options. You can either visit all the locations described in the collection or cut short by buying the materials.
Each of the 13 steps costs 100 Ectoplasm Balls, 100 Magnet Stones or T5 materials, and another 100-250 additional materials. Therefore, we recommend that you visit each location at least once. We have also included images of the locations for you. The map will mark the exact points for you when you are on-site.
Skywhisper of Water – Waypoint Castervall in the Bloodstream Coast.
Skywhisper of Fire – Waypoint Rümpler in the Black Citadel, just jump into the lava.
Skywhisper of Ice – This part is a bit tricky if you don’t have the Living World Season 3. You will then need to wait for the world event with the claw of Jormag, which takes place in the Icebrood Saga. Otherwise, you can simply travel to the Bitterfrost Frontier. You can find the ice storms there around the waypoint Deepest Sorrow.
Skywhisper of Earth – Waypoint Prosperity in the Drytop, just jump into the quicksand.
Skywhisper of Air – To do this, you first need to enter the jumping puzzle. There are four entrances. After that, you must jump to the Wind Concentrate. We have embedded a video for the whole puzzle here:
Skywhisper of Life – For this part, you just need to revive 20 allies. This applies to both players and NPCs. You can find many dead NPCs at the Thaumanova Reactor in the Metrica Province, but also at every large meta event.
Skywhisper of Blood – For this, you simply need to kill 100 enemies at the Blood Hill Camp in the Gendarran Fields.
Skywhisper of Growth – For this, go into the Glade and visit a small patch in the west. Travel to the waypoint Caledon and then simply jump directly over the wall and let yourself fall down.
Skywhisper of Death – Travel to the waypoint Altar of Murdered Dreams in the Cursed Coast and interact with a coffin there.
Skywhisper of Spirit – Travel to the waypoint Bloodfin Lake in the Ironmark. There you should interact with the Great Fire’s Cauldron, a hero point.
Skywhisper of Fear – Travel to the southwest of Ebonhawk (Fields of Ruin) and attack chickens there. At some point, angry chickens will attack you back.
Skywhisper of Bravery – Defeat 4 world bosses. This also includes the claw of Jormag, which you should defeat earlier.
Skywhisper Starter Kit
For this collection, you need to gather 13 items, some of which you can also simply buy or even must.
- Skywhisper Treats – You can buy these directly from Dyanne for 12 Charged Quartz Crystals, 24 pieces of Wild Meat, 60 Ectoplasm Balls, and 300 Bloodstone Dust. We already introduced these items to you at the beginning of the guide.
- Savory Kryptis Hide – Obtained from Kryptis – best from rift events – as drops.
- Tasty Traveler’s Ration – For this, you have to kill Jotun. Many of them can be found in the Scourgecliff Cliffs east of the waypoint Hessdalen Kenning.
- Delicious Devourer Carapace – For this, you have to kill Devourers. You can find many of them in the Ashford Plains at the waypoint: Catacombs of Ascalon.
- Crispy Chak Leg – A huge number of Chak can be found in the Twisted Depths. It’s best to port to the convergence of ley lines and then walk west.
- Tasty moss-covered bark – For this, you have to kill Tree Herder. You can find many of them in Kingsvale west of the waypoint Phinney.
- Juicy Worm Segment – Many worms can be found in and around the Findworm Cave at the eponymous waypoint in the Wanderer’s Hills. Alternatively, you can go to the waypoint Desider Atum and kill slimes at the same time.
- Delicate slime-marinated meat – Some slimes can be found in the Metrica Province, south of the waypoint Desider Atum.
- Crafted Ankle Joint – Most of the Crafted can be found north of the waypoint Fate’s Gorge in the Crystal Oasis. If you do not own Path of Fire, you can find some of them in the desert part of the Skywatch Archipelago.
- Bird Whistle – You can obtain the whistle from the NPC Gortho, son of Malik. He is in the Ironmark, either in the far northeast in the Shwindheart Passage or below the waypoint Clearing Crash. This is the NPC with the ogre whistle. The Bird Whistle costs 2 Gold there.
- Plush Quaggan – You can obtain the plush Quaggan from the merchant Sven Edson in the Wizard’s Tower in the outer ring, directly slightly southeast below the waypoint Tower Courtyard. The item costs 10 Gold.
- Durable Dolyak Blanket – For this item, you must complete the heart of herder Lyod south of the Durmand Abbey in the Lorna’s Pass. Then Lyod will sell you the item for 3 Gold.
Skywhisper Saddle Materials
For this part of the collection, you need to visit the 10 faction suppliers in the new areas and buy the required materials there. For these, you need the marks and the other materials we mentioned at the beginning of the guide.
We have created a map for you of the respective positions, which are also visible directly on the map.
- 3 – Jade-spun Silk Thread
- 5 – Noble Mahogany from Maguuma
- 7 – Deldrimor Rivets
- 8 – Garrenhoff Fabric
- 9 – Elonian Sandpaper
- 1 – Star-dust infused leather
- 2 – Mist-infused saddle oil
- 4 – Robust saddle hardware
- 6 – Storage saddlebag
- 10 – Particularly sticky tar
Obtain the Skywhisper
Finally, after you have completed the three collections and leveled the mastery, you need to speak with Dyanne one last time. Then the achievement is completed and you will permanently receive the Skywhisper or the additional rewards if you already own one.
Additionally, the collection “A New Look” is unlocked through this, through which you can earn a Skywhisper skin.
