The Buy-to-Play fantasy MMO Guild Wars 2 will release a patch with many new features on September 9th. It will be about PvP, item collecting, and likely also about the starting experiences.
Guild Wars 2 plans feature pack and $150,000 tournament
Guild Wars 2 is going into summer break with the Living World. However, in the coming weeks, you won’t just be sitting quietly in your little room, annoyed that no one talks about GW 2 anymore, but they will extensively present the new feature patch for September. At the moment, there’s still some mystery around what exactly will come, but so far, only extensive changes in PvP have been mentioned.
GW2 indeed has big plans for PvP and wants to increasingly develop it into events, as seen at the All-Star tournament at Gamescom. It is already known that they plan to start a big tournament with a prize pool of $150,000. Players from the three continents will compete for $50,000 each.
GW2 presents the new patch in bites
Although they are keeping the specific contents of the feature pack a mystery, there is already a sort of advent calendar set up where players can open a door every now and then until the launch on September 9th to receive information tidbits.
Thus, the first week is titled “Competitive Week” and will focus on PvP. The second week will be about a “Fresh Start” that is meant for both new players and veterans – presumably, this week will revolve around improvements in everyday comfort and especially in the starting experience. In the third week of the patch announcement, planned changes to “Collecting and Trading” will be presented – it sounds like some story related to inventory and the showcase aspects that a modern MMO can hardly resist.
The first door in the calendar opens on August 14th, the feature patch is set to release on September 9th, and shortly after that, the next episode of the Living Story will continue.
